The 7th Annual Firehouse Food Drive on Saturday, April 14th, was held on a beautifully sunny day, with volunteers from across the shoreline collecting close to 4,000 pounds of food for SSKP's pantries, as well as over $700 in donations. Participating fire departments included Old Saybrook, Essex, Chester, Deep River, Westbrook and North Madison, with generous food donations from members of the community.

Max Sabrin of Old Saybrook FD, brought together members of the media, including Harbor News/Shore Publishing; radio sponsors 94.9 News Now; and especially Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons of NEWS 8/WTNH.

In addition, the Old Saybrook Stop & Shop, Old Saybrook Big Y, Colonial Market in Essex and Robert's Food Market in North Madison offered donation areas, manned by firehouse and community volunteers.

This outpouring of caring from the community will provide much needed food to fill the shelves at SSKP's pantries this spring. Thanks to all who came together for this community wide effort!
